I’m not the biggest fan of juicing, because I don’t have a proper juicer. But, I certainly enjoy a nice glass of juice after a long weekend of eating like a savage. I go on health kicks, and try detox’s to make myself feel better about my binge-eating weekends. It’s all about balance, guys. Sometimes you just really need that vegan double burger with double cheese plus fries and vegan ice cream. I love food, and don’t deprive myself of eating when I’m hungry. Your body is feeling hunger, because it is hungry- so feed it, damnit! However, I will follow-up by eating smoothies, salads and soups if I’m feeling plump a few days after.

This smoothie-juice is kind of chunky (not really) with pulp and fruit matter. It’s filling enough to drink for breakfast or lunch or a snack. I drank the first three glasses by itself, and then I added some coconut milk to  make it more like a treat. It was delicious both ways. Protein powder would also go well in this. Protein is power!

I just have a regular blender that I used to make this. If you have a juicer- go ahead and use that (but I recommend fresh strawberries if this is the case).

smoothie-juice ingredients:

  • 1 gala apple, washed/peeled/coded/diced
  • 1.5 cups fresh red beets, washed/peeled/diced
  • 3.5 cups water 
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (optional)
  • protein powder (optional)

directions: In a blender, add the apples and beets with water and blend until smooth. Add the strawberries once the apples and beets are well blended. Voila! Done! Enjoy this healthful drink…. even if it is accompanied by a vegan double burger with double cheese and fries. There’s no judgement here.
